Table Talk: Veronique Lazoore

May 30, 2017

Veronique Lazoore is the humble embodiment of motivation. From her killer Flywheel Sports class – she is also an unofficial DJ – to her accomplishments as an ex Lido De Paris dancer and current Wilhelmina Fitness model, she inspires through example. Veronique also holds her Yoga Barre and Yoga Sculpt certifications and used to teach Hot 8 Yoga before she became full-time at Flywheel.

As you can probably imagine, Veronique has a bangin’ bod. We sat with her to find out how this powerhouse fuels her body, for her jam-packed days.

What does your weekly exercise regimen looks like?

I teach anywhere from 13-15 classes a week at Flywheel - three classes on Mondays, and two everyday Tuesday - Saturday with Sunday being my day off. I always try to incorporate 1 to 2 classes a week at Barry's Bootcamp. Typically, I do double floor on Mondays (arms & abs) & Fridays (full body).

What is your morning nutritional routine?

In the mornings I usually have a Nuun Hydration: Electrolyte + Energy tablet with water. I gave up drinking coffee or any type of energy drink. I found myself depending on it, I was always dehydrated from the coffee and the amount of classes I was teaching. This keeps me hydrated, wakes me up, tastes great and is approximately $.50 a tablet (cheaper than going to Starbucks every morning). I will eat a bowl of cereal (high in fiber), or if I’m rushing out the door Ill take an Oatmega bar to eat on my drive to my class.

What do you normally have for lunch?

I actually have a subscription to Blue Apron and Green Chef, so it varies every day! I try to have chicken, fish or some sort of protein on top of spinach, or I love baked sweet potatoes (a little bit of olive oil and Himalayan salt). I also try to eat any rice, or carbs during lunch vs. dinner.

Afternoon Snack? How do you aim to control portions during this meal?

I usually burn anywhere from 2500-3000 calories a day. I’m constantly hungry or eating. I love a banana on the go, or even Greek yogurt with some granola and raspberries with a drizzle of honey. Another bar I like is the GoMacro bar. It’s organic, vegan & high in Protein. I have a sweet tooth so I get the peanut butter & chocolate chip. I don’t keep any bad snacks or food at my house just so I won’t be tempted to eat it.

What do you have for dinner on a normal day?

Dinner for me is usually a salad with protein, or steamed fish with steamed vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots).

Late night snack? Desert? What is your go-to?

Like I said I have a sweet tooth and love deserts. When I go out and crave desert I go for it. But when I’m home and need something sweet, Ill have either a spoonful of almond butter, or sunflower butter.

Do you have any tips for people trying to maintain a specific nutritional regimen? What tips or tricks do you use on yourself?

I don’t keep any bad snacks or food at my house just so I won’t be tempted to eat it. The key is to plan your meals a day or so in advance so that you’re not wondering what or when you’re eating next. Have healthy snack options, handful of raw almonds, protein bars, bananas or apples. I usually allow myself one cheat day a week (Saturday or Sundays) just so that I get my fix and look forward to it and feel like I’ve earned it!
