Our Favorite Skincare Products
Self-care can take many, many shapes and forms. Whether you enjoy reading your favorite book, doing a face mask, Netflix and chillin’, walking your dog, getting a massage or going to the gym, there is no doubt that it is an absolutely necessary part of life and balance.
Here at EBS, we believe that skin care is a huge part of self-care. Yes, some of us may use more natural products, some of us may use fewer products, and some of us may not know what we are even using… what’s squalene oil anyway?
I am giving you a full disclaimer that none of the EBS editors are skincare experts, but we decided we should do a little round up and share our absolute favorite skincare products right now. I limited it to three products per person because well… I could probably fill a book with just mine. #keepmeoutofsephora
(PRO TIP: did you know that you can return skincare products at Sephora if you do not like them?)
Let’s get this skincare party started!
What Camila says: I choose skincare products that are going to help keep my face bright, clear and have an anti-aging component. It’s also very important that they will not leave my face feeling too oily for a very long time. I don’t like that feeling because I am always sweating and I’ve noticed a pattern on my skin that those products make me break out more. I love serums but I still have to do a lot more research before I start recommending them, especially because of the price point.
What Yasamin says: I feel like every brand wants to convince you that they have the best product, but it really takes a personal trail and error period to test out what works best for my skin. I choose my products by word of mouth or by testing a sample. Most skincare stores will have samples of their products you can try at home and I take full advantage. I ask for multiple samples of the same product and do my experiments at home. I finally decide on products that make my skin feel the healthiest and that make my skin feel bright and glowy, reduce breakouts, and leave a soft, moisturized texture.
What Mandy says: I choose my products based on how the ingredients will affect my skin. I suffer from psoriasis, which means I have very sensitive skin. This makes it essential for me not to provoke any further irritation. I stay away from products with sulfate, tea tree oil and alcohol, and all my products are always fragrance free. I’m getting older now so I’m looking for products that moisturize my skin and are anti-aging. I’m all about trying new products but I also rely on trusted, established brands like L’Oreal.
What Andrea says: I have rosacea so I have to avoid anything with citrus in it. Also a lot of over the counter washes have salicylic acid for acne which really dries out my skin. I aim for as natural as possible with ingredients I can understand. I aim for calming ingredients like honey, cucumber, and my favorite lavender for inflammation.
What Nicolle says: I choose my skincare products by simplicity -- what gets the job done and is not bad for me. I don't have the time or motivation for a crazy skincare regimen. I have pretty sensitive skin so I need something light, but effective with no harsh chemicals.
